Our flea control service focuses on specific products that focus on killing adult fleas but also helps keep future generations from maturing.
Fleas can quickly become a nuisance to you and your family if they are not taken care of in a timely manner. Flea control is crucial to start once you think you might have a flea infestation on your hands. Let us take a deeper look into fleas, their biology and how to prevent them or crush an infestation.
At Bug Busters Pest and Mosquito Control, we have been doing flea treatments up and down the Grand Strand for years. We are licensed through the state to perform both interior and exterior flea treatments. When it comes to flea control at the beach, you can count on us to do the job right and make sure your home and furry friends stay flea free!
When it comes to an effective flea treatment, time is of the essence so that minor infestation does not grow out of proportion. We offer same day flea control usually but always have next day appointments available for customers that require one.
Horry County has a perfect climate for fleas since the weather at least warm throughout a majority of the year. With the warm weather brings plenty of wildlife that can transmit fleas to your yard or home. The fleas they bring then can make their way to your furry friends and home itself.
Most people realize they have a flea infestation by their pets itching constantly. Fleas love pets with longer fur so that they can live under the fur near the warm skin of the animal. When fleas start to bite, there is usually no relief unless the animal is given a thorough bath with scrubbing of the pets body with soap.
Other signs you might have a flea infestation are itchy skin that is covered in bumps. When fleas bite it hurts and they continuously bite until they are fed. You will see these tiny looking bugs jumping up and down, onto your body and off again in rapid movements.
Yes! Fleas love carpet due to their ability to stay deep under the fibers protected from danger. Flea's bodies are too small to crush so walking on the carpet will not get rid of them.
Although fleas can live in the fur of your pets, they do not live on humans but they do feed on us frequently!
Fleas can die on their own if they go a week or two without a host but getting rid of adult fleas is not the issue. Their eggs can lay dormant for a long time.
Not only do we offer a one time spray of your home and business but most of our clients are set up for routine sprays that happen periodically throughout the year so that your home stays pest free for all months.

There are a number of products out on the market for flea treatments but the best are deployed from an aerosol can but not a bomb. It is almost never a good idea to grab a bug bomb from the store and set it off in your house. We use aerosol cans to apply the pesticide directly to areas where fleas are living but we never apply it directly to pets or humans.
When it comes to treating pets it is best to speak with a veterinarian to see what types of treatments are best. We always advise our clients to get their pet on some sort of preventative treatment since fleas live on pets. If they do not, there may be no end to their flea infestation!
Our flea treatments usually take a few hours and 2-3 hours after we are finished you can re-enter your home without any restrictions. We ask that you vacuum right before we come to start the service and then every day for two weeks. The frequent vacuuming is so that we can wake up and force flea eggs to hatch. Once the eggs hatch the baby fleas will make their way through the treated areas and die from exposure to the pesticide.
All of our flea treatments include an IGR which is an insect growth regulator. IGRs mess with the reproductive process of insects so that future generations cannot develop properly. With an insect like a flea that reproduces frequently, it is crucial to break down future life cycles before they begin.
Sometimes treating the inside of a home is not enough. If a yard or crawlspace of a home is inhabited by raccoons, possums or other wild animals that are hosts to fleas, they must be removed before a proper treatment can be applied. When we treat exteriors for fleas we use backpack sprayers to apply much more pesticide to your lawn, crawlspace and other areas fleas may be harboring than we do inside.
